Ikea Hack: Byas TV Unit

DIY

I’m a huge fan of Ikea for its affordability & accessibility—but mostly for its ability to be transformed.

This makeover was insanely easy once I got the hang of it. But of course everyone is different!

To start, I purchased this media console. White, high gloss, blocky; it was so ugly. It was exactly what I was looking for! A blank slate.

Supplies: wood dowels, dresser pulls, chalk paint, jigsaw, orbital sander, nail gun.

Video of my process:

Next idea: custom TV frame????

Important to note: I began by using wood glue. I don’t recommend this as it’s messy, not as strong, and took forever. Purchasing this nail gun was game changing and I finished in less than half the time it would have taken me with the glue.

I love the Ikea hack community. It’s so fun to see how creative people get. I hope once my building skills improve and my confidence improves with my hands tools I can do bigger projects. :) Have you ever done an Ikea hack? Leave a comment!
